Verdict. Paradox's conversational assistant (Olivia) screens, schedules and onboards hourly applicants by text message, and is the proven option for retailers, restaurants and healthcare systems hiring tens of thousands a year.

Best for: high-volume hourly hiring with text-based screening and scheduling.

For a restaurant group hiring 20,000 people a year, the bottleneck is not finding applicants but responding to them before they take another job. Paradox answers applicants by SMS and chat, asks knockout questions, schedules interviews directly on managers' calendars and sends reminders. Clients include large employers in retail, QSR and healthcare, and it integrates with Workday, SAP and other enterprise HR systems.

It is not sold to small businesses; implementations are enterprise projects.

Pros and cons

Dramatically faster applicant-to-interview times
Text-based experience hourly candidates prefer
Deep enterprise HRIS integrations
Enterprise price and implementation
